The Non-Profit Organization “Dive In Action” is an Environmental Organization officially active since February 2019, based in Santorini. Its main purpose is the protection and preservation of the natural underwater landscape of the Thira province, particularly the museal sensitive formations of the volcanic caldera. These are considered a natural cultural heritage and a valuable natural resource of the marine area, known for its significant biological, ecological, aesthetic, scientific, geomorphological, and educational value on a global scale. Using tools such as public awareness and education, research, data collection, and processing from systematic monitoring of the marine and underwater area, “Dive In Action” aims at the protection and preservation of the natural landscape, the conservation of biodiversity, and sustainable development to achieve environmental, social, and economic well-being. Simultaneously, the organization explores solutions to environmental issues in the region. As part of its activities, the organization focuses on key pillars, including marine and underwater waste, the human connection to the protection of the underwater environment, observations related to biodiversity, and recordings using the citizen science approach.
